Ever felt like your old life was dying, but you couldn’t fully let go? Welcome to your next level of growth. 🌱

As one chapter in my life closes, I feel like a part of me is dying. Despite this next level being everything I have been desiring, there is a deep grieving process. I have been reminded of a powerful truth: your new life will cost you your old one.

We all face moments where we feel stuck in the past, repeating patterns that no longer serve us. Maybe you’re ready to step into something new — a better version of yourself. Yet, there’s a part of you that feels a deep grieving, even as you move forward. ✨ Like you’re transitioning, but it doesn’t feel easy.

Here’s the hard truth — transformation isn’t always glamorous. It’s not about waiting for the perfect moment or making everything look Instagram-worthy. It’s the opposite. The death of your old self is uncomfortable. But guess what? It’s necessary to become who you’re meant to be. What if the pain you feel isn’t something to avoid, but a sign that you’re about to be reborn? 🐍

The Ouroboros — the snake that eats itself — represents this exact cycle. The pain, the rebirth, the beauty in the breakdown. It’s not your fault that you’re feeling it. It’s a signal that the old you is shedding, and you’re about to step into something better.

With it also being the Lunar New Year of the snake, this feels all too fitting. I remember so clearly when I was introduced to this energy — my grandmother whispered in my ear, “What if I told you the thing you thought was the devil… is actually a symbol for feminine power?”

My little girl mind was blown. I recalled spending time with my father’s side of my family in St. Thomas’s New Hernhut Moravian Church, where the snake was a constant symbol of evil. Yet, I was intrigued by my mother’s lineage, full of medicine women who worked with herbs, energy, and their wildness. Unlike others, my grandmother Cicely was always free — rebelling, doing things her own way. So, I listened.

She explained that the energy of the snake represents the fluidity and dynamism of femininity. The Ouroboros was worshipped in goddess-led societies for millennia. Unlike a ‘regular’ snake who merely sheds her skin, the Ouroboros devours herself time and time again, fueling her own transformation through death and rebirth.

This is a holy process. Diving into the darkness and coming out the other side stronger, better, more aligned — that is the power of woman.

As Christianity spread in the 14th century, the snake went from sacred symbol to villain. We were conditioned to believe that salvation came from a God above us. When in truth, our salvation comes from diving into ourselves, meeting our shadows, and using that as fuel to transform. The free, wild, transformative power of femininity was dominated by a rigid, disciplined, violent system. You know I love God, yet this history is a sordid attempt to make a fracture between women and their faith.

You may recall the story of Adam, Eve, and the snake — all attempts to shame her. Yet, even in this process, she never truly left. Those who remember her wisdom continue to pass it on. Mother to daughter, auntie to niece, sister to sister, Cicely to her granddaughters.

Parts of me that no longer served me have died, and a new Déja is in her wake. Stronger, grounded, more aligned. Transformation can be a dark process, and the only way out is through. That’s why I created NECTAR 🍯💦— designed to help you heal the intergenerational trauma of overwork and hustle so you can step into your soft, juicy, and successful life.
