It’s said that Sundays are for self-care, naps, soul work, and lovers. I spent this past weekend taking that advice to heart,  going inward and doing what brings me joy.

For me, that means I started the day with a standing meditation. This happens when I simply move my body intuitively to relieve physical tension while practicing mind-body connection. In my experience, I’m most successful through contorting, stretching or dancing. This was then followed by 2 hours of asana, or the physical yoga poses most people are familiar with. Afterward, I moved onto making this warm bowl of oatmeal that I topped with peaches, walnuts, raisins, a drizzle of honey, and a dusting of cinnamon. Simple and sweet, it definitely hit the spot. Coupled with a steaming mug turmeric ginger tea and it was a banging morning pick-me-up.

This breakfast was the perfect fuel for an afternoon of canoeing :) I absolutely love spending time outdoors whether it be heading for a walk, hiking, climbing, or simply drawing on a blanket on my lawn. This past Sunday I convinced my father to join me for a few hours out in Wekiwa Springs and we had a blast!

We spotted so many turtles, crows, herons, and alligators.  That time out on the water really allowed us to slow down, enjoy the wildlife, and meditate on what truly matters. The only hiccup occurred when we got caught in a torrential rainstorm for the last 40 minutes of our adventure! We got completely soaked and I couldn’t stop giggling at the absurdity of it all. In the end, he thoroughly enjoyed his time out there and definitely wants to return.

After such a long day, I barely had the energy to lay in bed, edit this post and eat dark chocolate while watching Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.  I fell asleep while on my computer, yet somehow had the ability to close my laptop and place it on the pillow next to me.

Well, you win some, you lose some :P

Wishing you an amazing week ahead!
